Google Penguin 3.0 Recap

 Penguin is the algorithm update that’s designed to defend Google against spam and other practices that violate its webmaster guidelines.

The version that came out in October 2014, Penguin 3.0, is a worldwide refresh that impacted less than one percent of English search queries.

According to Search Engine Journal, “The Penguin algorithm primarily looks at a site’s backlink profile…It should demote sites with bad link profiles and help sites that were previously hit that cleaned up their link profiles.” Click here for more details about Penguin 3.0.

Look What Google’s Done Now

Good news for businesses that have more than one location.

According to Search Engine Journal: “Google has made an update to AdWords location extensions that allows multiple locations to display in mobile search ads. When several business locations are nearby, users may see up to three locations in an ad. The extensions can display the street address and distance from the user’s current location. Users can click to call or get directions for each location.”

The Video Advertising Advantage

video1According to a study conducted by Nielsen, online video ads have a greater impact than TV ads and they are better at finding the hardest-to-reach audiences.

Two key findings:

  • Younger TV viewers, the coveted 18-34 demo, continue to grow their time spent with online video.
